Ito En Pokémon Local Acts Vending Machines

Some of the most obscure Pokémon art in Japan is on drink machines at rest stops and parks, and it does a job: these machines are also a blackout supply. Ito En wraps its disaster-response vending machines in each prefecture's Pokémon Local Acts ambassador, so Slowpoke covers the machines at Marugame Castle and Takamatsu Airport in Kagawa, while Lapras takes Miyagi's, including one on the Sendai Airport observation deck. If the power goes out, the machine can be run by key or hand crank to give out its drinks for free. The machines were also Gyms in Pokémon GO until Ito En's partnership with the game ended on December 31, 2025, and Ito En said its Gyms would be removed from January 2026.

Twelve prefectures have a design: Alolan Vulpix and Vulpix in Hokkaido, Geodude in Iwate, Lapras in Miyagi, Chansey in Fukushima, Dragonite in Fukui, Oshawott in Mie, Sandshrew and Alolan Sandshrew in Tottori, Slowpoke in Kagawa, Quagsire in Kochi, Ampharos in Nagasaki, Exeggutor in Miyazaki and Growlithe in Okinawa.

There are too many machines to pin here, so use the list at the bottom of this page with Ito En's own map, linked below. The map is in Japanese and was last updated in March 2024, when it showed 120 machines across Hokkaido, Iwate, Miyagi, Fukushima, Fukui, Mie, Tottori, Kagawa and Miyazaki. Kochi, Nagasaki and Okinawa got their ambassadors later in 2024 and are missing from it, so treat the map as a starting list rather than a complete one. The newer machines we could confirm are listed below.

The opening panel explains the map in Japanese, so close it with the X. The blue dots are machines, and tapping one does nothing. Pinch to zoom, or press the + at the lower left, until the scale bar reads about 10 km and names appear beside the dots. To jump to a prefecture, tap the second icon at the top right to open the Bookmark panel, then tap a picture of a machine. The eight pictures run in the order Hokkaido, Iwate, Miyagi, Fukushima, Mie, Tottori, Kagawa, Miyazaki, and Fukui has none, so find its two machines by zooming in by hand.

Each name reads ITO EN, then the location, then , which means disaster-response vending machine. Many locations start with , a michi-no-eki roadside rest stop, which makes them easier to reach by car than by train.

Newer machines not on the map

Ito En hasn't published a newer list, so these three come from individual announcements, and there may be others. As of November 2026, we found no announcement of a machine in Okinawa.
