Kinkaku-ji

Zen Buddhist temple whose top two floors are covered in gold leaf, reflected in the pond below — Kyoto's Golden Pavilion.

Getting there from Arashiyama: take the JR Sagano Line from Saga-Arashiyama Station to Enmachi, then catch a bus the rest of the way. Watch the 205 — it runs as a loop, so boarding on the wrong side sends you the opposite direction.
