84 (Hashi Cafe)

84, pronounced hàshí, is a private café in Shibuya opened by a former Nintendo employee — no public address, no sign, no listing. The only way in is the "84tour": book a slot online, get the location and directions by email, and knock on an unmarked door that opens to the chime from The Legend of Zelda's secret-passage sound.

Inside: original signed artwork from Nintendo game creators, 40 years of the owner's own retro game collection, and plush toys of Mario, Yoshi, Pikachu, and Snorlax lining the couches, more living room than café. The 90-minute 84tour (¥9,999, tax included) runs Friday and Saturday at 12:00 and 15:00, and includes one drink, a round of dagashi snacks, and a stamp passport.
